Book Review | Half Baked Harvest: Every Day by Tieghan Gerard

I’m obsessed. That’s the whole review.Oh you need more details, well fine. Let me put down my fork and I’ll tell you, because I can’t stop making these recipes. The first time I looked through this cookbook I marked at least half of the pages in the book as things that I needed to make immediately, and although I didn’t actually make them all in one day, every single one has had the whole family nodding their heads as they eat. Let me give you the run down of what we’ve tried so far:

Naan breakfast sandwich with soft scrambled eggs and honey

D’oh I just realized I forgot to serve it with honey, which would have really put this over the top.  But seriously how is this not going to be amazing? Garlic butter, eggs, cheese, bread… she even stuck in some healthy things like spinach and turmeric and we loved it.

Pizza pasta

This is such a fantastic recipe, everything went together so quickly. The toasted pepperoni bread crumbs gave it a wonderful little crunch. I think back to all the spaghetti dinners I served when my kids were young, and I would have loved a recipe like this to throw into the weeknight lineup.

Dad’s cheesy baked tacos

This was the first recipe we wanted to try, the whole reason for buying the book in the first place to be honest. It was delicious but very messy, I think I used too much oil on the taco shells so that’s on me. We will just have to keep making it, that’s the only reasonable option!

Pumpkin spice latte cake with coffee frosting

Y’all know I’m a baker, so I had to give this a whirl. The cake was wonderful, soft and perfectly spiced, and the frosting was light and creamy. I’m a sucker for any frosting with cream cheese anyway so this was my jam.

Cheddar fried eggs

I’ll admit, I did not make the salad because I didn’t have the ingredients on hand and I really wanted to try the eggs, because sometimes I am impatient. I am keeping this recipe in my pocket because shredded cheese topped with an egg- what exactly could be better?  Anything? We are just getting started with this cookbook.  Chocolate Chip and Banana Pancakes, Candied BLT, Easier Italian Wedding Soup, Crisp Carnitas Taquitos, and Mongolian Beef are all on the docket.  So basically I’m giving it five stars, go pick up a copy!
