Why We Need Support to Live Our Best Lives

Author’s Note: This is the first of a two-part series about how to live our best lives this year. I was nervous as I climbed under the white sheets.Soft music hummed in the background, and candles lit the room, creating a sacred space where I would be held and protected.Starting from my feet and moving up, Reg moved my body from right to left. He intuitively felt the tension and worked the knots into submission. Sue whispered, in her lilting British accent, words of affirmation. This was more than a massage, bodywork, or reiki. It was a blessed release.Skilled Hands I was in the hands of skilled practitioners.Sue Alexander specializes in Balinese, ancient indigenous, Hawaiian, and European disciplines. She also partnered her organic farm and certified production facility in Somerset, including delicious, healthy food, organic clothing, natural products, and environment-enhancing strategies. Her products and services were delivered to homes, health food shots, prestigious department stores, and even the British Royal family. Such experiences allowed her to design incredible treatment experiences for potential guests and clients.“We have a saying, ‘live the life you love in the body you love to live in,’” Sue says. “It’s important to take those words and create that for you.”Reg Lenney has helped thousands doing just that. Internationally known as the “Health Concierge” and “Coach of Coaches,” Reg has counted Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Al Pacino, and celebrity athletes among his clients. As a creator and developer of more than 40 online and in-person courses, events, retreats, workshops, and training strategies, Reg’s clients and students consistently take their health, life, and businesses to new levels. One of his to custom design customized training programs, events, and leadership strategies branded to the company’s identity.Reg is also the author of Be You, incorporating his “10 Vital Keys to Ultimate Health & Success”™. Since 1986, Reg has provided top-rated and results-oriented, one-on-one professional, corporate, health, and lifestyle programs.Sue and Reg own a lifestyle health and wellness company, Rijooviness, “Life by design.”“It starts with being honest with yourself and where you place yourself,” Reg said. “No matter what your goals…if you surround yourself with the right people and right environments, everything becomes easy.”Getting ClearI first sought Sue and Reg’s services because I couldn’t discern the difference between my life falling apart and a season of refinement.A four-year contract reached its natural conclusion, my film stopped production, and my then-boyfriend was away for several weeks visiting family. Despite my feverish prayers to God to change my situation, I also felt alone and lost.A friend graciously flew in at a considerable expense to spend time with me and teach me how to crawl out of the tunnel underneath I felt buried. But I needed more. So, when my amazing hairstylists Alen and Sam told me how their lives changed under Sue and Reg’s care, I immediately messaged Sue.Even for an experienced writer like me, it is hard to describe the afterglow of my first experience with Sue and Reg. The mechanics are easy. Sue and I discussed what arose as I drank a glass of water. She checked on me later that evening. However, I felt a strange euphoria, cared for, and protected. My heart swelled with love while ordering a pizza from a favorite Italian restaurant. Then, I fell into a deep sleep, imagining myself curled under an angel’s wing. When I awoke, I was clear for the first time in a long while. We’re Not Trees As I interviewed Sue and Reg for this series, I realized that while my experience with them was unique, I possessed a common thread that wove across their client base.“You have to find you,” Reg says. “If you’re not living your truth, it makes sense why you overeat or are depressed.”Until recently, I believed my birth was a mistake. My mother discovered she was pregnant with me while visiting a divorce lawyer to file separation papers from my father. Mom thought she had a cold when she really had a tiny life growing inside her that would eventually become me. Despite his abuse, she stayed with my father, and I have spent my entire life trying to repay mom for an unimaginable sacrifice. However, my physical, spiritual, and emotional energies unfurled decades of guilt and feeling burdensome to the people I most loved as I continued working with Sue and Reg.“Sue has a saying,” Reg explained when I interviewed them for this series. “She says, ‘we’re not trees. Just because we’re born in a forest doesn’t mean you have to stay that way for the next 1,000 years.’”Similarly, the circumstances of my birth shouldn’t determine my life’s trajectory. He continued: “We don’t look at the results of how a client lives. We look at the individual. Once you guide them, and support them down the path they want, everything they want will come into place.”
