National Muffin Day

For almost a decade a special group of people called “muffinteers,” led by Jacob Kaufman and Julia Levy, have been encouraging people to participate in National Muffin Day by baking muffins and handing them out to people experiencing homelessness in their communities. The powers that be say that National Muffin Day falls on February 20 (a Monday in 2023) but the “muffinteers” are asking people to bake on February 26 (a Saturday this year), since a weekend date means more participation!

As their website says, “A muffin won’t solve homelessness, we know that, but it will make more people aware of the needs in their community and to stop and treat . . . [those experiencing homelessness] with kindness.” To learn more you can check out the official Facebook event, follow them on Instagram, or visit their website.

As for us? We’ve rounded up ten tasty muffin recipes to hopefully inspire your participation.
